Anthropic IPO Date: When Is Anthropic Going Public in 2026?

by VT Markets /
Nov 2, 2026
anthropic-ipo-date

The Anthropic IPO is targeted for 16 November 2026, the earliest first trading day SEC timing rules allow, with reports from the Wall Street Journal and Reuters pointing to a debut that week. Anthropic has not confirmed the date. It made its S-1 public on 26 October 2026 and plans to list Class A shares on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker ANT, but the price range and share count are still blank.

An IPO date works like a flight departure board. The board shows the planned time, but the flight leaves only after boarding, clearance and weather checks are done. For an IPO those checks are the roadshow, pricing and regulatory sign-off. Until they happen, every date in the news is a target, not a schedule.

This article is for information only. It is not investment advice or a recommendation to buy or sell any security.

Key takeaways

  • Anthropic filed its S-1 publicly on 26 October 2026 for a proposed IPO of Class A common stock, with the ticker ANT on the Nasdaq Global Select Market (Anthropic announcement).
  • The IPO is targeted for 16 November 2026, which Yahoo Finance calculates is the earliest first trade under SEC rules, and reports from the Wall Street Journal and Reuters say Anthropic is aiming for that week. Anthropic has not announced a listing date.
  • The share count and price range were left blank in the first filing. Reuters and the Wall Street Journal report that Anthropic could seek up to USD 100 billion, which would be the largest IPO on record if it happens.
  • The last company-stated valuation is USD 965 billion post-money, from the May 2026 Series H round. Reuters reports that some investors now put it near USD 1.5 trillion.
  • Revenue was USD 16.286 billion in the first half of 2026, but the net loss was USD 80.748 billion, mostly from an accounting charge on convertible notes (S-1 figures as reported by Kingy.ai).
  • CFDs let traders speculate on a share price without owning it, but no ANT CFD can exist before the shares trade, and leverage magnifies losses.

What is Anthropic and how does it make money?

Anthropic is an artificial intelligence company that builds the Claude family of AI models. It describes itself as a public benefit corporation, and its stated mission is to “ensure the world safely makes the transition through transformative AI”. The S-1 also describes a Long-Term Benefit Trust that elects a majority of the board. For a trader, the practical point is that Anthropic is a company whose revenue depends on how many businesses and developers pay to use its models.

Stock Titan, summarising the S-1, reports that Anthropic sells access to Claude mainly to businesses and mostly charges by usage, measured in tokens. About 80% of first-half 2026 revenue came from consumption-based usage and about 20% from subscriptions. Products named in the filing summaries include the Claude Platform, Claude Code and Claude Cowork, and the model line-up is Mythos, Opus, Sonnet and Haiku.

Two details change how the headline loss should be read. Of the USD 80.748 billion net loss, USD 72.388 billion is an expense for changes in the fair value of convertible notes, derivatives and SAFEs (simple agreements for future equity), which rose largely because Anthropic’s own valuation rose. It is an accounting charge rather than cash spent. The operating loss for the half was USD 693 million, after a first-quarter loss of USD 1.667 billion and second-quarter operating income of USD 974 million.

Stock Titan also reports net revenue retention of about 900% for customers other than Claude Pro and Max subscribers, which means existing customers spent far more than a year earlier. Amazon and Google are Anthropic’s two biggest customers, and the S-1 lists that reliance as a risk (Techloy).

When is Anthropic IPO? The timeline so far

The Anthropic IPO has moved in steps, and most of the next steps have rules attached.

DateEvent
28 May 2026Series H round of USD 65 billion at a USD 965 billion post-money valuation
1 June 2026Confidential draft S-1 submitted to the SEC
18 September 2026Wall Street Journal reports the target window moved from October to November
26 October 2026Public S-1 filed, naming Nasdaq and the ticker ANT
10 November 2026Earliest roadshow start under the 15-day rule
13 November 2026Earliest possible pricing, because the SEC is closed on 11 November
16 November 2026Earliest possible first day of trading

Yahoo Finance reports that companies must make a confidential filing public at least 15 calendar days before the formal roadshow starts. With the S-1 public on 26 October, marketing could begin as soon as 10 November. The SEC is closed for Veterans Day on 11 November and needs two business days’ notice before declaring a filing effective, so Friday 13 November is the earliest pricing date. Because bankers rarely price on a Friday, a Monday 16 November debut would be the fastest realistic path.

Why the reported dates differ

Sources disagree on the target week, and none of them is a company announcement.

  • Week of 16 November: reported by the Wall Street Journal and Reuters, as cited by Yahoo Finance. If Anthropic followed SpaceX’s pace in June, when it went from public filing to first trade in 23 days, the debut would fall on Wednesday 18 November (Yahoo Finance calculation).
  • Before Thanksgiving (26 November): Bloomberg reportedly suggested a roadshow in the week of 9 November and a debut before Thanksgiving, which Tastytrade marks as unconfirmed.
  • Week of 23 November: Fortune reportedly expects the IPO in Thanksgiving week, according to Techloy.

The practical reading is that mid to late November 2026 is the reported window, and the amended S-1 with a price range is the next confirmed signal. Yahoo Finance notes that market volatility, particularly in comparable stocks already trading, and any open regulatory issues could shift the timetable.

Anthropic IPO date: what has to happen first

Four steps stand between the public S-1 and the first trade.

  1. Amended S-1. The number of shares and the price range are expected to appear in an updated filing before the roadshow begins. As of 27 October no amendment had added them (Kingy.ai).
  2. Roadshow. Anthropic and its banks meet large investors and take indications of demand. Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley are named as the contacts for the preliminary prospectus, and Stock Titan reports a group of 22 banks on the S-1 cover.
  3. Pricing. The final price is usually set after investors have indicated demand, often the night before trading begins (Yahoo Finance).
  4. Effectiveness and listing. The registration statement must be declared effective by the SEC, and Nasdaq must admit the shares. The Anthropic announcement states that the securities cannot be sold or offers accepted until then.

Anthropic stock ticker, exchange and share structure

The intended ticker is ANT, for Class A common stock on the Nasdaq Global Select Market. The listing is a proposal until the registration statement is effective.

The share structure matters more than usual. According to the S-1 summary from Kingy.ai:

  • Class A: the shares offered to the public, with one vote per share and economic rights.
  • Class N: economic rights, generally no vote, mainly held by strategic partners.
  • Class T: held by the Long-Term Benefit Trust, which elects or removes a board majority, with no economic rights.
  • Class F: one share held by a founder LLC, carrying 50.1% of general voting power and no economic rights.
  • Class E: held by employees other than co-founders, with limited voting and no economic rights.

Anthropic identifies itself as a controlled company under Nasdaq rules. The offering also includes shares sold by selling stockholders, and Anthropic receives no proceeds from those sales. Public shareholders therefore buy economic exposure but not control.

Anthropic IPO price: what is known about the share price

There is no IPO price. The S-1 leaves the price range and share count blank, so any “expected share price” quoted online is an estimate. Three reference points are circulating, and each has limits.

Reference pointFigureWhat it is and what it is not
Board-implied value per shareAbout USD 71.43Protos derives it from a USD 2 billion expense for shares donated to charity, settled with about 28 million Class N shares. It is a calculation as of 30 September 2026, not an offer price, and the S-1 mentions a discount for lack of marketability.
Last private saleUSD 589.0095 per Series H-1 preferred shareStock Titan converts it to about USD 58.90 per Class A share. The article says it is not a guide to the IPO price.
Valuation talkAbout USD 1.5 trillionProtos links this level to roughly USD 88.56 per share, using a 16.9 billion share count. A 10-for-1 stock split took effect on 17 September 2026, so older per-share figures are not comparable.

On valuation, Reuters reports that some current and prospective investors value Anthropic at about USD 1.5 trillion, down from roughly USD 2 trillion a week earlier. The Associated Press has reported potential IPO valuations of USD 1.5 trillion or possibly USD 2 trillion. None of these is a company figure. The last valuation Anthropic stated itself is USD 965 billion.

How much could the Anthropic IPO raise?

The company has not stated a raise. The Wall Street Journal and Reuters report that Anthropic could raise up to USD 100 billion or more. For scale, Reuters says SpaceX’s June 2026 Nasdaq debut raised a record USD 75 billion, more than double Saudi Aramco’s 2019 proceeds. SpaceX priced at USD 135 per share, closed its first day at USD 160.95 and closed at USD 147.49 on 23 October, 9.3% above its IPO price (Reuters).

Use of proceeds in the S-1 includes computing and hiring, and part of the money will cover tax withholding on employee stock units that settle at the IPO (Stock Titan). Because selling stockholders are also offering shares, the headline raise will not all go to the company.

A comparison with SpaceX describes what happened to one other very large listing, and it does not indicate what will happen to ANT.

What could move Anthropic share price?

Newly listed shares usually trade on a mix of company fundamentals and supply and demand around the offering. Based on the S-1 disclosures and reporting so far, the factors most likely to matter include the following.

Revenue growth and retention

First-half 2026 revenue was about 14 times the same period a year earlier. Investors will watch whether growth and the reported 900% net revenue retention hold as the base gets larger. A slowdown against expectations could weigh on the shares, and sustained growth could support them.

Path to profit and the accounting loss

The USD 80.748 billion net loss is mostly non-cash, but operating results still matter. The second-quarter operating income of USD 974 million is the figure analysts are likely to extend into forward estimates. After listing, convertible notes convert and the fair-value swings should stop, which changes how reported earnings look.

Compute spending

Anthropic spent USD 9 billion on AI infrastructure in the first six months of 2026, against USD 7.3 billion in all of 2025 (Techloy). Reports on future commitments vary: Yahoo Finance reported planned cloud spending above USD 450 billion, while Axios, citing a draft viewed by the Wall Street Journal, reported commitments that could reach USD 750 billion. Kingy.ai notes these figures cannot be reconciled. A separate USD 63 billion financing for equipment leased to Anthropic, announced by Bank of America, Blackstone, Citi and Morgan Stanley, is not part of the IPO.

Customer concentration and cloud partners

Amazon and Google are the two biggest customers, and cloud marketplaces made up 48% of first-half 2026 revenue. A change in terms with either partner would be a company-specific risk.

Competition and pricing

Tastytrade lists price competition following reported OpenAI price cuts as a risk, and Stocktwits reported a new autonomous coding agent from DeepSeek aimed at Claude Code. Competitor product launches and price moves can shift sentiment on the whole AI group.

Share supply, lock-ups and selling holders

Stock Titan reports staged lock-ups: most existing holders are locked up until the earlier of first-quarter 2027 results or day 180, and holders of more than 0.5% and co-founders wait up to about a year. Co-founders may sell up to 29% of their locked shares from the earlier of first-quarter 2027 results or day 180. The dates when locked shares become tradable are a recognised point of supply for any new listing.

Regulation, litigation and safety disclosures

The S-1 risk factors include copyright litigation, including a USD 1.5 billion Bartz settlement expense in 2025, export controls and regulation. They also include unusual language about AI safety, such as models showing self-preserving behaviour in tests and possible catastrophic or existential risks if safeguards fail (Kingy.ai). Reuters reported that about 80 of the 261 pages of the confidential prospectus covered risk factors, versus 48 on the business.

Market conditions and comparable stocks

Yahoo Finance notes that volatility in comparable stocks already trading could shift the timetable. The same conditions can affect the shares after listing, including the Nasdaq index and other large technology names.

Pros and cons of the Anthropic IPO for traders and investors

Possible positivesPossible concerns
Revenue grew from USD 1.163 billion to USD 16.286 billion year on year in the first halfNet loss of USD 80.748 billion, even though most of it is non-cash
Operating income of USD 974 million in the second quarterOperating loss of USD 693 million for the half
Net revenue retention of about 900% outside consumer subscriptionsHeavy reliance on Amazon and Google as customers
1,900 or more customers paying USD 1 million or more a yearCompute commitments reported at USD 450 billion to USD 750 billion
Large scale and strong demand coverage in the mediaDual-class control means public holders have limited votes
Liquid, high-attention listing on NasdaqPrice range and valuation are unknown, and early trading can be volatile

For long-term investors the questions are whether growth can persist at this scale and what valuation is already in the price. For short-term traders, new listings tend to bring wide spreads, gaps and sharp intraday swings, and the first days of trading can behave very differently from the weeks after. No one can say which way the shares will move.

How can traders get exposure to Anthropic shares?

There are three ways to take a position, and they differ in what you own and what you can lose.

  1. Buy the shares through a broker or in the IPO allocation. This is ownership, with limited access for retail investors. Allocations in large IPOs usually go to institutions first.
  2. Use a fund or related listed asset. This gives indirect exposure through other holdings and not to ANT directly.
  3. Trade a CFD on the shares after listing. A contract for difference (CFD) lets you speculate on the price change without owning the shares, with the option to go long or short.

CFD exposure to ANT can start only after the shares trade and after the product is available on the platform. VT Markets decides which listed shares it offers as CFD Shares, so check the instrument list before planning a trade. VT Markets does not offer its services in certain countries, so check whether they are available where you live.

A CFD trader would normally think through the following before trading a new listing:

  • Leverage: it magnifies losses as well as gains, and losses can exceed your deposit.
  • Spreads and gaps: new listings can open far from the previous price, and stop orders may fill at worse prices.
  • Trading hours and the calendar: the first day, earnings dates and the lock-up expiry are scheduled events. The economic calendar helps with macro releases that can move technology shares.
  • Position size: the amount you could lose should be an amount you can afford.
  • Index exposure: if you prefer a broader view of large US technology companies, VT Markets also offers index CFDs.

Conclusion

Anthropic has filed publicly for a Nasdaq listing under the ticker ANT, but the price range, share count and first trading day have not been set. The earliest first trade is Monday 16 November 2026, and reports place the debut between mid and late November. The filing shows very fast revenue growth, a large accounting-driven loss, heavy compute commitments and an unusual share structure. For traders, the facts to watch are the amended S-1, the roadshow, the final price and the first days of trading. Everything before that is an estimate.

There is no price. The S-1 leaves the price range blank. Estimates such as USD 71.43 per share (a Protos calculation from a filing footnote) or the roughly USD 58.90 per Class A share implied by the last private sale (Stock Titan) are reference points, not IPO guidance.

How much could the Anthropic IPO raise?
