Accenture Extends Rare Winning Streak as Shares Surge and Overbought Signals Flash

Oct 23, 2026

Accenture shares were on course for a 12th consecutive daily rise after gaining 37%, as the stock worked to fill a gap from earlier in the year. Such a run is described as historically anomalous for an S&P 500 constituent, typically occurring only once or twice over multiple decades. The move follows a sharp reversal from earlier weakness: the shares fell 9.6% on 3 February after new AI automation tools raised concerns about pressure on consulting models, and they had already dropped about 32% over the prior year since February 2025. The stock then bottomed near $115 in June and rose more than 100% over the next four months.

Momentum accelerated after a quarterly earnings beat and an upgraded outlook on 1 October, with the rally culminating on Thursday as the February 2026 sell-off gap was closed. Shares climbed more than 5% to an intraday high above $254, even as the Nasdaq Composite fell about 2.8%. Technical readings were stretched, with the daily RSI at 80 for the first time since August 2020 and the weekly RSI at 72, a level last seen in December 2022, while price moved well above the 50-day SMA. Levels cited included potential support near $225, a further downside marker at $194, and resistance around $280.

Exceptionally Rare Run and Technical Indicators

We are watching an exceptionally rare 12-day winning streak in Accenture that has driven shares past $254 after a 37% surge in October 2026. Statistically, 12 consecutive green days occur only once or twice a decade for an S&P 500 company, making this current stretch mathematically overextended. With the daily Relative Strength Index touching 80 for the first time since August 2020, derivative traders should anticipate sharp profit-taking in the coming weeks.

Suggested Trading Strategies and Risk Management

We suggest derivative traders consider buying short-dated put options or setting up bear call spreads to play a potential drop toward initial support at $225. Historical market patterns indicate that extreme overbought conditions usually force a retest of a stock’s 50-day simple moving average. If downward pressure accelerates, option targets should expand toward $194 by mid-November, where major chart trendlines intersect.

For those holding bullish positions, we advise taking profits or utilizing collar strategies to lock in these outsized gains. If shares manage to ignore technical overbuying and continue climbing, the upper resistance boundary to watch sits near $280. Hedging downside risk right now protects capital against a quick snapback toward the moving average.
