USD/JPY rebounds from key arc support as Fed-BoJ yield gap underpins upside bias

USDJPY has rebounded from the 0.786 Support Arc on the 1h chart under Arc Cycle Analysis, leaving the pair above that support level and in a rebounding phase. The setup is framed as neutral-bullish, with the preferred scenario remaining a rebound and Arc integrity described as strong.

If upside momentum persists, the primary target zone is 158.91. The bullish scenario is conditional: it would be invalidated by a sustained 1h close below 157.45, which would indicate the support structure has failed within the current Arc Cycle.

Technical Rebound and Fundamental Drivers

We are currently observing a strong bullish rebound in the USDJPY currency pair from a critical technical support level. Following a test of the 0.786 Support Arc, the exchange rate has stabilized above 157.45, signaling that buyers are stepping back into the market. This technical bounce suggests that the path of least resistance for the coming weeks is skewed to the upside.

This upward momentum is supported by the widening yield differential between the Federal Reserve and the Bank of Japan, especially with the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield hovering around 4.1%. Despite the Bank of Japan keeping its short-term policy rate target low at 0.25%, persistent economic resilience in the United States continues to favor the greenback. Historically, when the interest rate gap between these two central banks remains this wide, the Yen struggles to sustain any meaningful recovery.

Trading Recommendations and Risk Management

For derivative traders, we recommend focusing on buying opportunities during minor intraday pullbacks, targeting a primary move toward 158.91. To manage risk effectively, protective stop-loss orders should be placed just below the key invalidation level of 157.45. A sustained hourly close below this critical marker would void our bullish outlook and suggest a deeper downward correction is underway.

We should also prepare for heightened volatility, as USDJPY has averaged weekly fluctuations of over 1.5% during major macroeconomic data releases this year. If upcoming U.S. labor or inflation data comes in stronger than expected, we anticipate the price target of 158.91 will be reached quickly. Maintaining strict risk limits is vital, as any unexpected policy shifts or intervention talk from Japanese authorities could spark sudden, sharp reversals.
