EUR/USD was steady near 1.1620 on Monday, after trading between 1.1601 and 1.1635 and ending at 1.1621, up 0.07%. The pair had earlier been framed as range-bound between 1.1595 and 1.1635, but upward momentum has ticked higher. In the near term, the pair is seen edging towards 1.1640; a break above that level is possible, though upside follow-through is expected to stall ahead of the 1.1670 resistance. Support is pegged at 1.1610, with a further floor at 1.1600.

Over a one- to three-week horizon, the upside bias is maintained, but gains are expected to remain contained within a tighter 1.1585 to 1.1670 range. The prior view, cited from 04 Sep with spot at 1.1635, had allowed for a broader 1.1585 to 1.1690 band following a strong surge, while a 07 Sep update with spot at 1.1625 reaffirmed the narrower parameters. The outlook continues to treat 1.1670 as major resistance that is unlikely to be broken decisively.

Short-Term Technical Outlook And Trading Implications

We are currently seeing a slight pickup in upward momentum for the EUR/USD, which is hovering around the 1.1620 level. In the immediate term, we expect the pair to test 1.1640, though a major breakout is highly unlikely. For derivative traders, this indicates that aggressive bullish bets are premature.

Range-Bound Strategies Favored Amid Low Volatility

Over the next one to three weeks, we expect the currency pair to remain locked within a tight range of 1.1585 to 1.1670. Because the major resistance at 1.1670 is unlikely to be broken decisively, we recommend selling call options near this ceiling to capture premium. Implementing range-bound strategies, such as iron condors, is highly suited for this low-volatility environment.

This calm outlook aligns with recent economic indicators, as Eurozone inflation has stabilized near 2.2% and the ECB maintains a steady policy stance. Historically, during similar periods of balanced central bank policies, EUR/USD realized volatility has dropped by over 15%. This statistical compression suggests that range-trading strategies will continue to outperform directional plays in the coming weeks.
