CFTC data for Australia shows AUD non-commercial net positions at -39.4K, compared with -44.5K previously. The latest reading indicates the net short has narrowed relative to the prior report.
Even so, positioning remains below zero, leaving the market in a net short stance.
The shift from -44.5K to -39.4K points to reduced bearish exposure rather than a move into net long territory.
