The pair traded around 1.3815 after touching an intraday high of 1.3835. The US PPI rose 0.4% month on month, matching expectations and up from 0.1% in July, while the annual rate climbed to 5.4% versus a 5.3% forecast and 4.8% previously. Core PPI increased 0.2% month on month, below the 0.3% expected and recorded previously, and the annual core measure rose to 4.6% from 4.3%, in line with expectations.<\/p>\n
Rate expectations remained in focus, with the CME FedWatch Tool implying a 64% probability of a 25-basis-point Federal Reserve hike at the September 15\u201316 meeting ahead of Friday\u2019s CPI. The US Dollar Index traded near 98.96 after an intraday high of 99.20, while the 10-year Treasury yield was around 4.92%, its highest since November 2023. WTI traded near $97.20 a barrel, up more than 8% this week; separately, market-implied odds of conditions returning to normal by year-end in the Strait of Hormuz fell below 30% from more than 50% previously, and USD\/CAD had briefly dipped below 1.38.<\/p>\n
