Oct 19, 2026

US Commodity Futures Trading Commission data show non-commercial net positions in S&P 500 futures at -141,000 contracts, compared with -154,100 previously. The shift points to a smaller net short held by non-commercial accounts over the latest reporting period.

Current Non-Commercial Positioning

Even so, positioning remains negative, indicating these traders are still net short the S&P 500 contract.

Shift in Bearish Exposure

The change represents a move towards less bearish exposure rather than a flip to net long.
