What Is a Unilateral Contract?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In financial markets, a unilateral contract<\/strong> is an agreement in which only one party is legally obligated to fulfil the terms. The other party retains the option but not the obligation \u2014 to act. If the second party chooses not to exercise that option, there is no breach and no legal consequence.<\/p>\n

This stands in direct contrast to a bilateral contract<\/strong>, where both parties are bound by mutual obligations from the moment the agreement is signed.
