The initial 300K tonnes is about 2.2 million barrels, a little more than half a day of US demand for distillate fuels, which are mostly diesel. On the same day, the Treasury\u2019s Office of Foreign Assets Control issued General License 135, permitting the sale and import of Russian diesel, including into the US, until 7 April 2027; earlier in the week, EU countries agreed on 2 October to a French proposal to release diesel stockpiles following a request from Trump.<\/p>\n\n
