This sentiment change aligns with recent economic data, particularly the April CPI which came in at 3.1%, fueling expectations the Federal Reserve will keep interest rates elevated. Higher rates increase the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding gold, making it less attractive to investors. We anticipate the market will continue to price in a “higher for longer” rate environment, putting a cap on gold’s rally.<\/p>\n
Consequently, the U.S. Dollar Index has shown significant strength, recently climbing to 106.5. A stronger dollar generally pressures gold prices by making the metal more expensive for buyers using other currencies.
