Gold was priced at PHP 9,089.12 per gram, the same as Thursday.

Gold also held steady at PHP 106,013.70 per tola, unchanged from the previous day.

Philippine Gold Price Snapshot

Other listed prices were PHP 90,891.20 for 10 grams and PHP 282,703.40 per troy ounce.

FXStreet converts international gold prices into Philippine pesos using the USD/PHP exchange rate and local units. Prices are updated daily and are for reference, as local market rates may differ slightly.

Gold is commonly used as a store of value and in jewellery, and is also treated as a safe-haven asset. It is often used as a hedge against inflation and currency depreciation because it is not tied to a single issuer or government.

Central banks are the largest holders of gold and may buy it to diversify reserves and support currency confidence. In 2022, central banks added 1,136 tonnes of gold worth around $70 billion, the highest annual purchase on record, with China, India and Turkey increasing reserves.

Gold often moves inversely to the US Dollar and US Treasuries, and can also move opposite to risk assets such as stocks. Its price can be affected by geopolitics, recession fears, interest rates, and shifts in the US Dollar, since gold is priced in dollars.

Strategy Outlook For Gold

The current stability in gold prices is deceptive and offers an opportunity for positioning. While today’s price seems calm, we are seeing a consolidation after a significant run-up through the latter half of 2025. This pause often precedes a new trend, so we should prepare for increased movement in the coming weeks.

A primary driver for our outlook is the shift in monetary policy we observed from the U.S. Federal Reserve last year. After a series of three rate cuts in 2025, market consensus is now pricing in at least two more cuts before the end of this year. Lower interest rates decrease the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding gold, which is historically bullish for the metal.

We must also consider the immense and consistent demand from central banks, which provides a strong floor for the gold price. Looking back, we saw them add a record 1,136 tonnes in 2022, and World Gold Council data showed this aggressive buying from emerging market banks continued strongly through all of 2025. This institutional demand suggests any significant dips in price will likely be short-lived.

This interest rate environment is also weighing on the US Dollar. The Dollar Index (DXY) has been in a steady decline since its peaks back in 2024 and is now trading near two-year lows. A weaker dollar makes gold cheaper for buyers using other currencies, which further supports an upward price trend.

Given these factors, purchasing call options on gold futures appears to be a prudent strategy. We should look at contracts expiring in the third quarter of 2026 to capture the potential upside from the expected summer rate cuts. This approach offers significant leverage to a rise in gold prices while clearly defining our maximum risk.

However, we should anticipate increased volatility as geopolitical tensions remain a background risk. To manage costs and hedge against sharp, unexpected moves, using bull call spreads could be a valuable tactic. This would involve buying a call option at a lower strike price and selling one at a higher strike, capping our potential profit but reducing the initial premium paid.

Create your live VT Markets account and start trading now.

Gold prices in Philippines stayed flat Friday: PHP 9,089.12/gram and PHP 106,013.70/tola, FXStreet reported.

[59

post-46398","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-live-updates
["GET
