US President Donald Trump said in a televised White House speech on Thursday that his \u201cobjectives are nearing completion\u201d in Iran. He also said the US would hit Iran \u201cextremely hard\u201d for the next two to three weeks.<\/p>\n
The comments lifted crude oil prices and reduced expectations of US interest rate cuts. Gold does not pay interest, so it can be less attractive when rates are high.<\/p>\n
Markets were also watching US March jobs data due on Friday. Forecasts expect Nonfarm Payrolls of 60,000 in March, with the Unemployment Rate steady at 4.4%.<\/p>\n
