Gold was priced at PHP 9,609.71 per gram, down from PHP 9,734.06 on Monday.

The price per tola dropped to PHP 112,085.60 from PHP 113,546.00 a day earlier. Other listed prices were PHP 96,096.86 for 10 grams and PHP 298,860.70 per troy ounce.

Philippine Gold Price Snapshot

FXStreet produces these figures by converting international gold prices into Philippine pesos using the USD/PHP exchange rate and local units. The rates are updated daily at the time of publication and are for reference, with local prices able to differ slightly.

Central banks are the largest holders of gold. They added 1,136 tonnes worth about $70 billion in 2022, according to the World Gold Council, the highest annual total since records began.

Gold often moves in the opposite direction to the US Dollar and US Treasuries, and can also move against risk assets. Prices are influenced by factors such as geopolitical conditions, recession fears, interest rates, and the US Dollar because gold is priced in dollars (XAU/USD).

We are seeing a minor dip in the gold price, which can be viewed as noise within a larger, more significant uptrend. This short-term weakness is happening even as the US Dollar shows signs of softening, a dynamic that typically supports precious metals. For derivative traders, such pullbacks should be seen as potential opportunities rather than a change in the overall trend.

Central Bank Policy And Market Strategy

The key driver remains central bank policy, particularly from the US Federal Reserve. After a series of rate cuts through 2025, recent statements suggest a pause, but the market is still pricing in at least one more reduction by year-end due to moderating inflation figures, with the latest CPI data from January 2026 coming in at a manageable 2.8%. Lower interest rates decrease the opportunity cost of holding non-yielding assets like gold, providing a strong tailwind.

Furthermore, we cannot ignore the relentless physical demand from central banks, which has created a solid floor for prices. Looking back, we saw central banks add over 1,000 tonnes to their reserves in both 2024 and 2025, with the People’s Bank of China being a consistently large buyer for 27 straight months. This underlying bid suggests that any significant price drops will likely be met with strong institutional buying.

Given this context, selling cash-secured puts at strike prices below the current market level could be a prudent strategy. This allows traders to collect premium while setting a lower potential entry point, capitalizing on the short-term volatility. Alternatively, for those with a bullish outlook, buying call spreads offers a cost-effective way to position for a rebound toward the all-time highs we witnessed last quarter.

Gold’s role as a safe-haven asset also remains critical in the current geopolitical climate. Tensions in several global hotspots continue to simmer, maintaining a layer of uncertainty in equity markets. We should use gold derivatives, particularly long-dated call options, as a relatively cheap portfolio hedge against any sudden risk-off event, similar to the one that caused the market jitters in the fall of 2025.

Create your live VT Markets account and start trading now.

Philippine gold prices fell Tuesday: PHP 9,609.71/gram, tola PHP 112,085.60; FXStreet converts global rates using USD/PHP.

[59

post-42663","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-live-updates
["GET
