Gold was priced at PHP 9,276.30 per gram, down from PHP 9,295.22 on Wednesday.

Gold dropped to PHP 108,198.50 per tola from PHP 108,417.60 a day earlier. Other listed prices were PHP 92,759.34 for 10 grams and PHP 288,523.60 per troy ounce.

Local Pricing Method

FXStreet converts international gold prices into PHP using the USD/PHP rate and local units. The figures are updated daily using market rates at the time of publication, and local prices may differ.

Central banks are the largest holders of gold. They added 1,136 tonnes worth about $70 billion in 2022, according to the World Gold Council, the highest annual total since records began.

Gold often moves inversely to the US Dollar and US Treasuries, and it can also move opposite to risk assets such as shares. Price changes can also be linked to geopolitical events, recession fears, interest rates, and US Dollar strength, as gold is priced in dollars (XAU/USD).

This minor dip in gold prices to around 9,276 PHP per gram should be viewed as short-term market noise. The underlying fundamentals that support gold, such as its role as a hedge against currency depreciation, remain firmly in place. We should therefore focus on the larger trends that will influence prices in the coming weeks.

Market Outlook Drivers

We saw central banks continue their strong buying trend through 2025, adding over 800 tonnes to global reserves in a move to diversify away from the US Dollar. This sustained demand, particularly from developing nations, establishes a strong support level for gold prices. It suggests that institutional players see long-term value, making significant price drops unlikely.

The US Federal Reserve’s dovish pivot late last year has put sustained pressure on the dollar, a trend we expect to continue. With market expectations pricing in at least one interest rate cut before July, the environment is becoming more favorable for non-yielding assets. A weaker dollar historically makes gold cheaper for holders of other currencies, boosting demand.

Looking back at the record-breaking rallies of 2024, we can see how quickly gold reacts to shifts in monetary policy expectations. That period showed how sensitive the metal is to lower interest rate signals. Therefore, traders should consider positions that will benefit from potential upside volatility in the weeks ahead.

The inverse correlation between gold and risk assets remains a key factor to watch. After strong equity market performance in the last quarter of 2025, which saw the S&P 500 gain over 9%, any signs of a market pullback could trigger a flight to safety. This would likely channel funds directly into gold, providing a powerful catalyst for a price increase.

Create your live VT Markets account and start trading now.

Gold prices in Philippines fell Thursday; PHP 9,276.30/gram, FXStreet says; central banks’ buying influences trends.

[59

post-42268","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-live-updates
["GET
