This persistent weakness is shifting our expectations for Federal Reserve policy, pulling forward the timeline for potential rate cuts. Interest rate futures now imply a greater than 60% probability of a rate cut by the June FOMC meeting, a stark reversal from late 2025 when the market was still bracing for higher rates. The weaker-than-expected Non-Farm Payrolls report from last month, which added only 155,000 jobs, further supports this view.<\/p>\n
Given this, we see an opportunity in interest rate derivatives to position for this shift.
