For the ASX 200, the implications are more complex. While improved consumer health is positive for retail and discretionary sectors, the threat of higher interest rates for longer could cap overall index gains, similar to the pattern we observed in early 2025. The increased uncertainty suggests a rise in market volatility, making a long straddle on the XJO index an attractive strategy to profit from a large price swing in either direction.<\/p>\n
