USD/CHF pulled back to just above 0.8300 on Thursday after a near 1.4% drop to 0.8280 the previous day, when dovish signals from Federal Reserve officials weighed on the dollar. On the Swiss side, softer inflation at the factory gate failed to underpin the franc. Swiss Producer and Import Prices rose 0.3% in September versus 0.7% in August and below a 0.5% consensus, while the annual rate showed a 0.2% contraction following a 0.7% decline previously.
Swiss Inflation and Monetary Policy Divergence
The data reinforce subdued price pressures in Switzerland, leaving the Swiss National Bank holding its benchmark rate at 0% even as other major central banks tighten, a divergence that has coincided with a 3.5% CHF depreciation against the dollar over two-and-a-half months.
Federal Reserve Policy and Market Focus

Markets later turned to US PPI, while Swiss Producer and Import Prices remain a gauge of downstream inflation via import costs.
