Atsushi Mimura, Japan’s Vice Finance Minister for International Affairs and the senior foreign exchange official, said on Friday he remains in close contact with relevant authorities on forex and that officials are always prepared to take suitable measures. He declined to comment on currency intervention and gave no indication of future plans.
International Collaboration On Forex
Mimura said discussions extend beyond the US while also confirming close contact with US authorities, and he reported hearing a range of concerns about recent yen weakness. At the time of writing, USD/JPY was trading around 160.35, up 0.51% on the day.
