The first full week of August shifts focus from central bank decisions to a dense run of macro data, led by July’s US Nonfarm Payrolls. The US Dollar Index (DXY) is near 99.90 and the market is looking for 91K jobs after June’s 57K, while the Unemployment Rate is seen edging up to 4.3%. ISM Manufacturing, ISM Services, ADP Employment and JOLTS Job Openings arrive earlier and are set to shape expectations for the Fed’s policy path. EUR/USD is near 1.1530 and faces June Retail Sales, final Manufacturing PMIs, Services PMIs, Producer Price Index figures, German Factory Orders and another Retail Sales release. GBP/USD, around 1.3480, is likely to be steered mainly by the US calendar given a quieter UK schedule.

Key Currency Pairs And Data Highlights

USD/JPY ends July near 159.10 with attention on June Labor Cash Earnings and the Bank of Japan (BoJ) Monetary Policy Meeting Minutes.
