Over the past year, the stock has traded in an ascending parallel channel from the low $60s in early 2024 to near $150.

The channel has shown repeated higher lows and higher highs. The lower trendline has acted as support on several tests, while the upper line has acted as resistance.

In late January 2026, the share price rose sharply and reached the upper boundary near $157–158. It has since pulled back to $149.83.

The channel midline is projected around $136–140 and may act as support if the decline continues. Another watch area is $140–144.

The lower channel support is now rising through the low $120s. A close below that level would mark a move outside the channel.

The upper channel resistance remains near $160. Projections point to higher levels if the channel continues rising through 2026.

The pullback in Gilead Sciences from its upper channel resistance near $158 comes as no surprise following the powerful surge last month. That move was fueled by the late January earnings report for the fourth quarter of 2025, which showed Trodelvy sales beating expectations with a 38% year-over-year increase. We now see the stock digesting those gains, which is a healthy sign for the established uptrend.

For those who believe the channel structure will hold, this dip presents an opportunity to position for the next move up. We think buying April $155 strike calls offers a direct way to play for a retest of the recent highs, especially if the stock finds its footing in the $140-144 range. This strategy requires a relatively quick bounce to be most effective.

A more conservative approach is to sell put spreads below the current price, which profits from the stock staying above a certain level. Selling a March or April $140/$135 put spread would align with the channel’s midline support area. This trade benefits from both time decay and the fact that implied volatility is still elevated from last month’s earnings event.

On the other hand, the firm rejection at the channel’s ceiling is a clear signal that sellers are present. Traders who expect a deeper retracement toward the $136-140 midline could consider buying March $145 puts. This provides a defined-risk way to profit if the current pullback gathers more momentum.

Another way to play this resistance is by selling a bear call spread, like the March $155/$160, to bet that GILD will not make a new high in the immediate future. This strategy profits if the stock moves sideways or down, capitalizing on the strong resistance overhead. We saw a similar consolidation pattern happen back in the third quarter of 2025 before the next leg up began.

Gilead stock climbed within an ascending channel, pulled back from $158; support near $136–144, resistance $160.

[59

post-42704","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-live-updates
["GET
