The share price has been trending lower, with continued selling pressure.

Last week, the price fell to about $9.25 on Thursday before rising more than 12% on Friday. The rebound did not change the wider downtrend.

A first support area is the $9.25 pivot low from Thursday. If the price breaks below $9.25, attention may shift to lower levels.

A second support area is around $8.11, linked to a prior gap fill. A deeper support zone is near the “Liberation Day” lows around $5.

Joby Aviation is a California-based transport company founded in 2009 that is developing all-electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft. The aircraft are intended to carry a pilot and multiple passengers for an air taxi service.

Looking back at the analysis from last year, we can see the selling pressure continued as anticipated. The stock failed to hold the key $9.25 pivot low following a disappointing earnings report in late 2025. Now trading around $7.50, the focus has shifted to the lower levels of support we were watching.

The company’s Q4 2025 earnings report revealed a net loss of $125 million, about 15% wider than expected, which has weighed heavily on the stock. Furthermore, competitor Archer Aviation’s recent preliminary order for 100 aircraft from United Airlines has increased market concerns about competition. This pressure exists despite Joby’s own operational progress, having completed pre-production flight tests last month.

With the stock having broken the $8.11 gap fill level, traders may consider buying put options to speculate on a further move down toward the major $5 support zone. The current 30-day implied volatility is elevated near 95%, reflecting the market’s expectation of significant movement. This strategy allows for defined risk while capitalizing on continued downward momentum.

For those wary of the high cost of options, a bearish put spread could be a more capital-efficient approach. For example, one might buy a put with a $7 strike price and simultaneously sell a put with a $5 strike price for a later expiration. This caps the potential profit but significantly reduces the upfront cost and decay of the position.

Alternatively, traders who believe the major support around $5 will hold can consider selling cash-secured puts with a strike price at or below that level. This allows them to collect premium, taking advantage of the high implied volatility. Should the stock fall below the strike price by expiration, they would be assigned the shares at an attractive cost basis.

JOBY shares slide 3% before earnings; downtrend persists, with key supports at $9.25, $8.11, and $5.

[59

post-41522","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-live-updates
["GET
