The slowdown is now impacting inflation expectations, with the year-end 2025 inflation rate falling to 7.1%, a faster decline than many had projected. In response to this weakening data, the Banco de la Rep\u00fablica has already pivoted, initiating a 25-basis-point interest rate cut in its December 2025 meeting. We have seen the Colombian Peso weaken against the dollar, with the USD\/COP cross moving from around 4,000 in October to trade above 4,250 this month. This trend is likely to persist as the interest rate differential with the United States narrows.<\/p>\n
Given this context, we should consider positioning for further weakness in the Colombian economy and currency.
