Sterling pared earlier losses against the US Dollar after volatility triggered by US Nonfarm Payrolls. GBP/USD slid to an intraday low of 1.3482 immediately after the release as the Dollar firmed on stronger-than-expected jobs data, before rebounding. The pair was trading around 1.3512 at the time of writing.

London Trading Session Update

In London trading, the Pound eased from session highs just below 1.3550 and drifted back towards 1.3520, leaving the pair negative on the day. Comments from Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey, who urged flexibility on monetary policy, damped expectations of a rate increase at September’s meeting.

Technical Outlook for GBP/USD

In technical terms, GBP/USD drew buyers for a second day but stalled in the mid-1.3500s, with the 1.3550 area capping gains after a recovery from a nearly three-week low touched on Wednesday.
